Animated AV, spatial sound and snow on demand: How we turned Federation Square purple.
The Vision
ID Collective came to us with a bold ask: could we light up the whole of Federation Square purple? The full campaign was under wraps at the time, part of a secret activation that couldn't leak before launch.
Create something that hit every sense at once, an experience so immersive that people standing in the middle of Federation Square would forget they were in the middle of the city.
The Pro Light & Sound Solution
We built a fully animated, multi sensory projection show across the square, complete with fireworks, falling snow, Christmas trees, Santa's Little Helper and Santa himself. Federation Square was transformed into a winter wonderland, with a talking Elf on hand to greet the kids as they arrived.
To pull off the illusion of Santa actually landing and taking off again, we ran two animations at once and moved the soundscape across the 3D space in real time, so the sleigh felt like it was really flying overhead.
The Outcome
A flawless live show, backed by full AV production from start to finish, that turned one of Melbourne's busiest public spaces into pure Christmas magic.
